Jimmy is survived by his children, Lamar, Jimmy (Janie), Sandra, Troy (Patsy), 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Gertrudis, their son Tobias "Toby", son-in-laws, Kenny Minnitti and Joe Garcia.
Jimmy was born on September 30, 1929, in Mason City, Iowa to parents Santiago and Petra A. Tijerina. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He retired from Ace Sales.
Jimmy was a great family man, a loving father and grandfather. He married Gertrudis on April 30, 1949, and the couple had five children together, including one who died in infancy.
Jimmy enjoyed scratch tickets, playing the lotto, fishing, hunting and barbequing for his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a happy and funny person that enjoyed an ice-cold beer and a good poker game.
Public visitation will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road Corpus Christi, Texas from 5:00 pm until 8:30 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
