Steve worked for the City of Corpus Christi Sanitation Department, serving his community with steady dedication and pride.
Known to many as “Mr. Hunny Bun,” Steve became a familiar and warmly remembered presence—especially for the simple ritual that earned him his nickname: a Hunny Bun every morning with coffee at the supermarket on Prescott. Yet it was not only the treat that people remembered; it was the infectious smile that so often accompanied it, and the easy way he made others feel welcome. A natural people person, Steve had a gift for making new connections, and he delighted in sharing stories of his childhood—fondly recounting treasured memories and experiences from years gone by.
Steve’s greatest joy was being surrounded by the family he loved so dearly, and he never missed a single family gathering. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, and he loved dancing—bringing an unmistakable light into any room he walked into.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Reynalda Uballe; and his siblings, Josephine Reyes, Roberto Uballe, Pablo Uballe Jr., Alfredo Uvalle, and Palmira Guerrero.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Yolanda (Lori) Uballe, Sylvia (Jose) Rodriguez, Tony Uballe, Roy (Eliza) Uvalle, Mary Uballe, and Frances Wedgeworth.
The family would like to express gratitude to Camilla Uballe- Sister In Law and Beatrice (Mana) Reyes.
