He was born in Donna, Texas, but lived most of his life in Corpus Christi, where he graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1961. He worked at CCAD as a machinist for 25 years and retired in 1994 to start his own business, SAS Air Conditioning and Heating.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Steve M. Soto, and mother, Fermina (Padilla) Soto.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Soto; his brother, Raynaldo (Matilda) Soto; his sisters Mary Helen Montez and Rebecca Soto; his son, Kenneth (Diana) Soto; his stepson, Jason Freer; his stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jamin) Trice; his grandchildren, Marisa (Bryan) Wersterfer, Andrea Soto and Kenneth Estevan Soto; his step-grandchildren Ariel Fuentes, Ethan Freer, Alyssa Newman, James Trice and Jordyn Trice; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was a strong, kind and supportive husband, father, and friend. Our blended family was defined by his love and generosity. Although our hearts are heavy with his absence, we encourage all who knew Steve to remember the love and positivity he brought to this world.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1, 2021, with the Rosary to be recited at 1 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), 5830 Williams Drive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. The Rite of Committal will follow at 3 p.m. at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Road.
