Susan Esquibel, 75, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. She was born on May 8, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Soon after high school, she met the love of her life, Jose David Esquibel, and the two were married on August 1, 1971, in Ramstein, Germany.
Susan had a warm and vibrant spirit, known for her kindness, generosity, and deep love for her friends and family. She worked as a bartender at Two Seas on Padre Island, TX, and later as an Office Manager at The Pelican Lounge, where she built lifelong friendships, especially with Irfan (owner). A proud patriot, Susan had immense love and respect for all branches of the Military and First Responders.
She found great joy in cooking for loved ones, spending time on her computer, and sharing unforgettable moments with friends. Some of her most cherished memories included a train trip to Chicago with Regina, shrimping off a bridge with Teressa, and watching her beloved dogs chase after the shrimp as they leaped from the sink. Irfan, owner of The Pelican Lounge, describes her as being his right hand employee and most trusted friend.
Susan will be remembered most for her warm hospitality, her love of entertaining, her incredible cooking, and her famous Champagne Sunrises. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Susan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose David Esquibel, and her parents, Charles Louis and Dorothy Brum (Moessinger).
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Teressa (Doug) Griffel, grandchildren, Rachel Sharp and Kade Griffel, five great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Vivian Lee Riggs and Katharine L. Camfield. Her memory lives on with her brother-in-law, Daniel Esquibel and sister-in-laws, Margaret Topp, Frances Garcia and Patricia Abeyta.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her dearest friends, Irfan, Ron, Nina, Regina, John, and Jodi, who were like family to her. Special thanks also go to the compassionate staff at Lone Star Ranch Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Kingsville, Texas, for their care and support.
Susan’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
