

Thomas Smith McNabb, (Tommy), 87 passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Thomas was born on February 13, 1935 in Taft, Texas to Jack and Elizabeth Louise McNabb. He was one of 6 children, 3 preceded him in death.
Tommy learned at a young age the trade of welding. He traveled the United States working on oil and gas pipelines. He took pride in his work and was well known in the industry. When he decided to stop traveling, he was then employed by Goldston Company and Arthur Brothers in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Tommy married the love of his life, Ollie Mae Henrichson, on December 19, 1953. He was a devoted father and provider for six children, Kathy, Shana, Peggy, Michael, Kenneth and Stephen. He taught his children the love of family, a good work ethic and how to enjoy life.
Tommy loved to fish. He loved it so much that he and Ollie moved to Padre Isles and purchased a home on the canal. Some of the best memories were made at that home. He loved to entertain and hosted many birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings.
Tommy was affiliated with the Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a big supporter of this organization and their mission. He and Ollie would work Bingo and all the dances to support this charitable organization. He held many positions and earned many honors. In 1986, he was awarded the Pilgrim Degree, which is the highest honor a Moose member could earn.
He was an avid fisherman but also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends. He loved to dance and spent many Saturday nights dancing at the Moose Lodge dances. The ladies never let him set one out because he was such a great dancer. He also enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elizabeth Louise McNabb, his sisters, Louise Henke and Etta Moore, a brother, AJ (Tex) McNabb and his granddaughter, Shelley Shumake Rutherford.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ollie Mae McNabb. His children, Katherine (Willie) Shumake, Shana (Hutch) Hutchins, Peggy Moehle (Tom Hudson), Michael (April) McNabb, Kenneth McNabb and Stephen (Kelly) McNabb. His siblings, Billie Sheets and Sam McNabb. He will be missed by his 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on March 18, 2022 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Old Brownsville Road. Visitation is prior to funeral service: 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm for immediate family, 12:30 pm– 2:00 pm for family and friends. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Tommy’s grandsons – Jeremy Shumake, Travis Hutchins, Tanner Moehle, Weldon Moehle, Nolan Moehle, Preston McNabb, Jacob McNabb and Ryan McNabb.
