Velzora T. Anderson Miller

She was the first child of eight children born to the union of Lemmie and Bessie Anderson of Seguin, Texas. She received a bachelors degree from Sam Houston University and taught in the Corpus Christi Independent School District for a number of years before joining Lichtenstein’s Department Store of Corpus Christi from which she retired. She was a lifetime member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, an organization that she loved dearly.

Ms. Miller was a life member of Brooks Worship Center where she served for over 60 years at various times as the Church Secretary; Sunday School Superintendent; Stewart and Usher and made many friends during her life in Corpus. She will be missed by both family and friends.

Ms. Miller is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sr.; granddaughter, Crystal; parents and 5 siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Lawrence Miller Jr (Pearl) of Carrollton, Texas and Evelyn Holmes of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Maxine Lewis of Arlington, Texas and Jerilene Kennon of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
