Wilford “Bill” Lee Young, Jr., 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from a long battle with advanced Dementia / Alzheimer’s disease. Bill was born on September 14, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas. There he grew up and graduated from W. B. Ray High School in 1965. He played varsity basketball and baseball for the Ray Texans and had a life-long love of all sports. During high school, he met the love of his life, Connie Stringer. They married on November 18, 1967 and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. He graduated from Texas A&I University and Northwestern University with a specialization in Orthotics and Prosthetics. After becoming certified, he joined his father’s business, Victoria Orthotics and Prosthetics Services. There he worked tirelessly for nearly 50 years serving patients in Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas. Many of Bill’s favorite past times revolved around his love of sports. You could often find him at Carroll High School football and basketball games, a Corpus Christi Hooks baseball game or at the UIL state basketball playoffs in Austin with friends. He loved floating the Frio River back in the day with family and friends, traveling to the wine country with his good buddy Jeff and visiting his grandchildren in Dallas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Prince Young and Wilford Lee Young, Senior. He is survived by his wife, Connie, two daughters Erin Foley and her husband Paul Foley, Ashley Loeb and her husband Keith Loeb and five grandchildren, Emerson, Eleanor, and Jack Foley, Henry and Hadley Loeb, as well as his sister, Becky McBroom and brother Mike Young. With grateful hearts, the family would like to thank Todd Lansford and Family for their loving friendship and endless support, Angel Bright Hospice for their compassionate care, Dr. Mike Neff and staff as well as the Corpus Christi Fire Department for their gracious help. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial tribute donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
