William Ed “Woody” Jackson, 84, was called away to be with the Lord in Corpus Christi, Tx. on November 2, 2015. He was the youngest of three children born to Ed Miller and Allie Priscilla (Plank) Jackson on May 8, 1931 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Woody’s dad, Ed, was a very talented musician making several of the instruments that Woody and his brother Willys played. Every Thursday night the Jackson family had a jam session with locals and out of towners joining in. If someone wanted to be part of the group, but couldn’t play an instrument, Ed would invite them to play the washboard. While the Grand Ole Opry Radio Program was traveling through Oklahoma in the 40’s, Woody and his brother Willys played with Minnie Pearl and Grandpa Jones.
In 1948 Woody and his family moved to Portland, Texas, where he met Patricia Ann Riley (Corpus). In 1950 they married and moved to Rockport where in 1959 he opened Jackson Engine Service. In the following years both business and family flourished. From 1952 to 1960 he became a father to Deborah Ann, Karen Patricia, William Michael, Robert Ed, and Maecella Kay.
In the late 80’s he closed his marine engine business, moved to Corpus and started investing in real estate. In 1998 he met and married Elsa Irene Chapa. The two of them traveled extensively through Canada, Mexico, and Europe. They continued to invest in real estate together.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed (‘55), Allie(‘98), brother Willys (‘92), sister Joyce Graham (‘01) and one granddaughter Amber(’14).
He is survived by his wife Elsa Jackson, his children Deborah Pellham of Henderson, Tx., Karen Jackson of Kerrville, Tx., Michael Jackson (Elmer T. Magnuson) of Verona, Wis., Robert Jackson (Robin) of Carrollton, Tx., and Maecella Jackson of Bellaire, Tx.; stepchildren Rosalinda Barrera (Casey Sr.) and Laura Trevino both of Corpus Christi, Tx. and Raul Trevino Jr. of Austin, Tx plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
