

He is preceded in death by his parents and 2nd wife, Lea.
After retiring from the Navy, Bill went to work for DuPont, Driscoll Children's Hospital, Memorial Medical Center and Bayview Hospital in the Engineering Dept. all the while, he and Lea owned and operated their antique store specializing in crystal and assortment of antiques and collectibles.
After marrying his current wife, Sal they moved to Refugio, Texas, but Corpus Christi was his city to call home. Bill was a people person, he loved to have gatherings for family and friends.
This year his health started to decline and had to have major surgery. He fought the great fight but the Lord called him to be reunited with his loved ones.
He leaves behind his wife, Sal and children, Rachel (Will), Roxanne (Morgan), Massie, Stacie (Ruben), Stephanie and Stefan; grandchildren, Ashlea, Ryan, Morgan and Mason; his 4 children from his first marriage from West Virginia; his second family, Elva (Jack) Ussery, Sandy Simmons; granddaughter, Leaan Simmons and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Wanda Merrill of Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at 5 East at Spohn Shoreline Hospital and ICU 4, Doctors Krynski, T. Alexander, Dr. Hinojosa, Dr. Tavares, Dr. Adkin and especially the nurses. Also want to thank his best friends Tex and Bernice Mangum and son of choice, Patrick Reyes of Refugio, Texas.
The family will be receiving family and friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude at the chapel.
