

Willie U.J. West, age 83, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born in Muskogee, OK on August 15, 1933 and lived there through his high school years. Willie served in the US Army during the Korean War. After discharge he married, moved to Del City, OK and enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. While attending OU he supported his family by working full time at Tinker AFB. He graduated with a BA degree in 1961.
Willie was an avid OU football fan and seldom missed a game until his job took him out of state. He worked with the Civil Service for 40+ years living in Corpus Christi, TX, New Orleans, LA and Washington, D.C. After retirement he moved back to Muskogee until November, 2015 when he moved back to Corpus Christi to be near his daughter.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda West, his parents, E.W. West and Nora Nicholson West and brothers, Ivan and Bob.
He is survived by his former wife and dear friend, Lynn West; daughter, Janis Byron of Corpus Christi, TX; stepdaughters, Karen Sanders of Muskogee, OK and Sheryl Zuker of Eufaula, OK; stepson, Randy Vance of Moore, OK; granddaughter, Natasaha Byron of Corpus Christi, TX; step-granddaughters, Teah Ausmus of Moore, OK, Amy McCarter of Verdigris, OK, Ashley Sanders of Muskogee, OK; step-grandson, Chad Vance of Muskogee, OK; step-great-grandchildren, Peyton Ausmus, Blake Vance, Bryan Ausmus and Brody Vance all of Moore, OK.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel.
