Zaragosa G. Garza, 91, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1933, in Tynan, Texas, to Estanislado and Paula Garza. Zaragosa shared a long and loving marriage with Vicenta Kretzmeier Garza, his devoted partner of many years.
Zaragosa built a lifelong career in small engine repairs, a craft he not only mastered but truly loved. His dedication was unmatched. Even after hours, he could often be found tucked away in his garage, always fixing, tinkering, or lending a helping hand. His garage became more than just a workspace; it was a place where he found joy, purpose, and peace.
Family was at the center of Zaragosa’s heart. He cherished family gatherings, visits with loved ones near and far, and the laughter shared during those special times. His quiet strength and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estanislado and Paula Garza, as well as his daughters, Janie Orta and Virginia Fuentes, brothers, Severo, Cesario, Bonifacio, Pablo, Nestor, Castulo, and Cesario "Chiquito" Garza, and his sisters, Aurora Chagoya, Celia Zapata, Vicenta Vega and Valentina Vela.
Zaragosa is survived by his loving wife, Vicenta K. Garza, and his children: Ruben (Rosanna) Garza, Manuel (Julia) Piñon, Marco Kretzmeier, and Julio (Naomi) Kretzmeier. He is also survived by his siblings: Carlos Garza, Elena Garza, and Anastacia "Tacha" (Joe) Jarrell, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will continue to carry his memory forward.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Angel Bright Hospice for the compassionate and professional care provided to Zaragosa in his final days.
Zaragosa will be remembered for his dedication to his craft, his love for his family, and the quiet wisdom he brought into every room. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
A visitation for Zaragosa will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A Prayer Service will follow at 6:30 PM that evening.
