

Zenon H. Hernandez Jr. “Ray” gained his wings on January 22, 2025, at 79. Ray was a graduate of W.B. Ray High School in 1965, and graduated from Del Mar College in 1969. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, He was an excellent mechanic, businessman, owner of Z. Hernandez & Sons Trucking, and Ray’s Bar, formerly known as the "Food Hop". He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, camping, golfing, playing pool with his family and friends, and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Ray was an active member of the American G.I. Forum. He later retired to invest more time with his family and managing his local businesses.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Zenon and Argentina H. Hernandez; and sister, Angelita H. Saenz, of Kingsville, Texas.
Ray is survived by his high school sweetheart, and wife, Olga Garza Hernandez, of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, Zenon, III, and Ray (Angel Melody); daughter, Laura Hernandez; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lorenza H. Padron, Florinda H. Carrion (Apolonio), and Yolanda H. Galindo all of Corpus Christi, Texas.
We would like to thank his sisters, Yolanda and Florinda, for their love and support during his time of illness. Special thanks to all the staff at Wooldridge Place Nursing Center for their exceptional care and service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at 5:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment to follow at 11:15 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
