Sr. Mtr. Abigail Bell Sr. Mtr. Abigail Bell, born on May 8, 1938, in West Grove, PA, was the fifth of seventeen children born to the late Adv. Pres. Eld. George Clinton and the late Sr. Mtr. Mary (Bond) Walls in West Grove, PA. She was a member of The Supreme Council of The House of Jacob from birth. After graduating from Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA in 1956, she moved to Bethlehem Township, Ohio and then Washington, D.C. On April 10, 1960, Elds. Abigail Walls and Elder Edward Bell Jr. (Adv. Pres. Eld. E. Gabriel Bell Jr.) were united in holy matrimony in West Grove, PA. The Bells were blessed with six children, Eld. James N. Bell Sr. (Elds. Thelma), Elds. Mary. K. Bell, Bro. David A. Bell (St. Huldah), Mr. Absalom A. Bell, Mrs. Abital F. Moore (Mr. John), and Bro. Samuel G. Bell (Elds. Monique) . She graduated from Coshocton Business College in 1973 and was employed by The Ohio State University as a secretary at the County Extension Office where she worked for 25 years until her retirement in 1998. Being always outgoing, pleasant, and talkative, she made many friends through her years of employment. Sr. Mtr. Bell worked with the Young Daughters Program assisting sisters in the church to become proper young ladies. She began the Good Samaritan Program at Jacob's Dwelling Nursing Home; she worked with this program until her health prevented her from continuing. When Sr. Mtr. Bell's health begin to fail in the year 2000, she never lost her faith and zeal for the Lord, always speaking of the goodness of God. Throughout her illness, she continued to encourage and uplift others through her words, phone calls, and cards. On August 23, 2011, Sr. Mtr. Abigail Bell was called from labor to reward after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, eight sisters, one brother, one granddaughter, three aunts, and eight uncles. In addition to her natural children, Sr. Mtr. Bell was blessed with one special daughter, Sr. Mtr. April Goodwin (Pres. Eld. Jephthah),thirteen grandchildren: St. Melita, Bro. Edward III, Bro. James Jr., Bro. Jared, Mr. Daniel, Bro. Timothy, St. Ashley, Miss Keleigh, Mr. Aaron, Miss Shelby Moore, Bro. Tiras, and Bro. Simon, St. Sophia (deceased), eight special grandchildren: St. Rita King, Mr. Jason, Bro. Rufus, Bro. Obed (St. Simone), Bro. Timothy, Bro, Christopher, Bro. Jephthah, and St. Lydia Goodwin, two special great grandchildren, Bro. Malachi and Bro. Jacob Goodwin. Also left to cherish her memory are three sisters: Mtr. Frances Holmes (Pres. Eld. John), Sr. Mtr. Consuelo Heard, and Miss Monalisa Slack, four brothers: Mr. George Walls (Mrs. Betty), Pres. Eld. Phillip Walls (Elds. Rachel), Adv. Pres. Eld. James Walls (Sr. Mtr. Dinah), and Bro. Walter Walls (St. Lorraine), two aunts, one uncle, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends
Sr. Mtr. Bell will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for your many prayers, phone calls, visits, cards, contributions, thoughts, and other acts of kindness shown to us during the loss of our loved one. May God continue to bless you always. Calling hours will be Friday, September 2, 2011 at Given- Dawson Funeral Home from 5 -8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 11 A.M., on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob with Honorary Senior Bishop Pearson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family desires that those who wish may make donations to Health Services of Coshocton.
