

Adv. Sr. Mtr. Nellie L. Coffman, of Coshocton, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was born on January 22, 1942, in Hancock, WV to the late Sr. Deac. John Johnson and Elds. Helen Lee-Johnson. When she was very young, her family was witness to the ministry of the late Adv. Pres. Eld. Vernon Coffman. In 1949, Mtr. Nellie’s family joined The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, and it would become her greatest joy.
On July 5, 1957, Mtr. Nellie Johnson and Eld. Vernon Zakok Coffman married at the House of Jacob mission in McConnellsburg, PA. From that union came two children.
In February of 1976 Elder Zadok and Mother Nellie moved to Coshocton, OH to take positions with The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. Elder Zadok worked as a mechanic and Mother Nellie began her work at Jacob's Dwelling Nursing Home and when her sewing talent was discovered she designed and ran the church sewing room making cottas and bonnets for the female members of the church. She served in this capacity with great talent and joy and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Adv. Sr. Mtr. Nellie L. Coffman will be loved and remembered by many. She is survived by her two children, Elder Jonathan L. Coffman (Mtr. Druscilla) of Greencastle, PA, her daughter, Madeline J. Coffman-Lonsinger (William) of Mt. Vernon, OH, six grandchildren: Leah Kipe, Jon T. Coffman, Paige Whittington, Amber Whittington-Navarro, Laura Lonsinger, Robert Lonsinger, five great-grandchildren, two siblings Robert Johnson and Judy Mitchem, and many nieces and nephews.
Mtr. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents Sr. Deac. John Johnson and Elds. Helen Lee-Johnson-Munson, her husband of 58 years, Adv. Pres. Eld. V. Zadok Coffman and five siblings.
A funeral service will be held at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, First Tabernacle on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 am with Senior Bishop S. Joshua King officiating. Burial will follow at Machpelah Burial Acres. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
