Albert Owen Kohman

Albert Owen Kohman, age 79, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Vietnam veteran, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, with his devoted daughter, Kristi J. Jordan, and caring staff by his side. He was born June 27, 1947 to the late Russell and Violet (Wisenburg) Kohman in Coshocton, Ohio.

Albert wasn’t an ordinary man, and he certainly didn’t live an ordinary life. He lived life large, and on his own terms.

To those who didn’t know him, he could sometimes come across as rough around the edges. Those who had the privilege of truly knowing him knew there was much more underneath. Albert had a kind, caring, and giving heart. He was fiercely loyal, devoted to the people he loved, extremely hardworking, and always willing to help someone, or share what he learned along the way.

After graduating from high school, Albert was drafted by the United States Army on August 17, 1966. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army's 1st Cavalry Division. The strength, determination, loyalty, and pride that defined his service stayed with him throughout his life.

Albert loved anything with an engine, especially if it was loud, fast, or both. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and a lifelong MOPAR enthusiast. Cars, motorcycles, racing, and anything mechanical could keep his attention for hours. He was exceptionally good with his hands and carried a lifetime of knowledge that he was always willing to pass along. He had learned plenty of lessons the hard way, and he believed in sharing those lessons so maybe the next person wouldn't have to.

In addition, Albert loved to talk. He frequented many local businesses and clubs around town, sometimes stopping in for what was supposed to be a short visit and staying for hours. He could talk about cars, family, life, the old days, or just about anything else. Those conversations and the friendships he made along the way meant more to him than many people probably realized.

When Albert wasn't driving around town making his regular stops, he could often be found reminiscing about the old days and what he considered simpler times. Some of his most treasured moments were spent with his devoted daughter, Kristi, and his grandson, Colton. Together they frequently went to dinner, car shows, races, and baseball games. They talked endlessly about cars, engines, life, and the lessons Albert had learned along the way. He could often be seen parading around town in his Hellcat Challenger with Kristi and Colton by his side.

Albert also shared a very special bond with his great-grandson, Ridge Owen Jordan. Spending time with Ridge brought Albert tremendous joy, and the connection between them was truly special. Seeing another generation of his family growing up, sharing time together, and carrying the Owen name forward meant a great deal to Albert. Those were the moments Albert valued most — not necessarily the big occasions, but the time spent together, the conversations, the cars, the stories, and simply having the people he loved by his side. Those memories will remain an important part of Albert's legacy for generations to come.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristi (John Reining) Jordan of Millersburg; his son, Scott Kohman of Elyria; his grandchildren, Coty (Katilyn) Jordan, Colton (Trina) Jordan, Addy (Cole Garvin) Kohman, and Patience (Joseph) Sidwell; and his great-grandchildren, Ridge Jordan, Ripp Jordan, Grayson Jordan, Wesley Jordan, Layla Jordan, AylaJo Garvin, Cruze Garvin, Creed Garvin, Paisley Paynter, Dax Paynter, Rory Sidwell, and Lettie Sidwell. Albert is also survived by his brother, Kris Kohman of Coshocton; special niece, Kelly White, and special longtime companion, Vicki Harvey; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jerrold Kohman, Walter Kohman, and Otto Kohman.

A special thank you goes to Adam Mills, Zac Mills, and the entire staff at Jeff Drennen for always welcoming Albert, allowing him to come hang out and talk about life and fast cars, and, most importantly, for watching out for him. He truly enjoyed everyone's company, friendship, and the countless conversations shared over the years.

A special thank you also goes to Sycamore Run Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Albert.

There are also many others throughout the community who gave Albert their time, listened to his stories, shared conversations with him, and kept an eye out for him. His family is deeply grateful to each of you. Something as simple as sitting down and talking with Albert meant a great deal to him.

For those who knew and loved Albert, perhaps the best way to honor him is simple: take the long way home, stop and talk with someone a little longer than you planned, lend a hand when someone needs it, share the lessons life has taught you, and every once in a while, put your foot down and let the engine roar.

Albert's time here may have come to an end, but his stories will still be told, his lessons will still be passed down, and there will always be a little bit of him riding along with the people who loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place the following day, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at South Lawn Cemetery, with Pastor Bill Jones officiating.
