OBITUARY

Daniel Perry Clark

November 7, 1940August 23, 2020

Daniel Perry Clark, age 79, of Coshocton, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. He was born on November 7, 1940, to the late Russell and Margaret (Pierce) Clark.

Dan graduated from Coshocton High School in 1958 and joined the National Guard serving from 1963 to 1969. He worked for General Electric for 10 years and then Stone Container as a supervisor for over 30 years before retiring.

For 6 years, he fought to be with his family and quoted often “I’m tougher than whale shit”. Dan loved music; he played many instruments by ear that included the piano and harmonica. He also had a beautiful singing voice. He was a wonderful artist, painting many pictures that he gave away to family and friends. He was an avid reader often sharing his knowledge with others and could have been a contestant and winner on Jeopardy. Dan loved refurnishing furniture, landscaping and digging in his garden – that is where you would find him most days. He loved to dance the jitterbug with his wife, Shirley. He had a great sense of humor, kind loving heart, and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Davis) Clark, three children, Angela Adams of Coshocton, Jennifer (Larry Keith) Fry of Coshocton, and Jason (Katherine) Clark of Coshocton, grandchildren Jordan (Kendrajo) Fry, Whitney (Adam) Haumschild, Olivia (Jake) Ballard, Jacob Clark and Myles Clark; great-grandchildren, Bexlee and Axel Fry and one on the way.

Along with his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pauline Salmons Clark.

Per Dan’s wishes, a memorial service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Brown Farm 50166 TR 200, Coshocton, OH 43812 at 1 pm for family and friends.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Dan’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Blessings and comfort from the Lord to Shirley ,children, grandchildren, and great- grand children. I worked several years with Dan at Stone Container. He was a thorough person always writing down whatever he chose in his little notepad and referring to his notes. He was always willing to help the men and was a kind man, also giving advice. He was a good boss and a person you could trust. Well done my friend. God rest your soul.

Mrs. Clark, Angela, Jennifer and your families,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of you father/husband. There are no magic words I can say to make this difficult time easier, but I will say I am thinking about you all. It’s probably been 40 years but I can still remember Daniel telling us to get off the phone. That deep booming voice memory still makes me shake in my boots haha. Take care and I wanted to let you know you are in our thoughts.

Prayers to Shirley, Jason, Jennifer , Angie and of course all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. I worked many years for Dan at Stone Container and the stories I could tell of our times on shift together but one thing is for certain Dan spoke often of Shirley the kids and especially the grandchildren. I ran in to Dan at Alter care when visiting my mom of course him and Shirley were walking the hall ways because that was Dan he always had a never give up attitude. Three words come to mind when thinking of Dan integrity, honesty and compassion. RIP my friend.

To Jenn and family......My deepest sympathy at the passing of your Dad. I remember when he was dating your mom and I would see them at your cousin, Vonda's house. He was such a nice guy.
