

On December 25, 1947, she married the love of her life, Cecil Lorain Smailes who passed away on August 3, 2000. She was a life member of Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church. Dora was a Bus Driver for River View School District for 12 ½ years; she worked at Lacy’s Meats, Spitler’s Restaurant and then later Edie Ryan’s Restaurant before retiring.
Dora never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. She was known for her witty sense of humor and great hugs and kisses, always saying “one for the road.” She had a love of coffee and family and enjoyed nothing more than being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dora always had a song or saying for everything in life. She was truly a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth ( Chuck) Cannon of Fallsburg; five grandchildren, Teresa (David) Priest of Fallsburg, Rhonda Stevens of Warsaw, Jeff Smailes of Coshocton , Jodi (Tom) McCarthy of Coshocton and Jill (Josh) Miller of Coshocton; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in law, Jennifer Smailes; two brothers, Charles Raymond (Judy) Hutchison of Missouri and Ronald (Diane) Hutchison of Coshocton; brother-in-law, Bill (Betty) Smailes, and sister-in-law, Lela Smailes; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Dora is preceded in death by her son, David Smailes; grandson-in-law, John Stevens; three sisters, Vivian Hutchison, Norma Schlarb and Beverly Parsons; and three brothers, John, Kenny and Everett Hutchison.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rod Uhlig officiating. Burial will be held in Branch Cemetery.
