On August 6, 1955, Elfriede married the love of her life, Paul Estep, with whom she shared many devoted years until his passing in January 2000. She was employed at Pfizer for many years before dedicating herself to caring for Paul during his later years.
Elfriede often shared vivid stories from her youth, recounting the hardships and resilience of growing up during the Second World War. Before coming to the United States, she had been a skilled dog trainer and an avid swimmer in her native Germany. In the 1950s, she made Coshocton County her home and became a beloved part of the community.
A hardworking woman, Elfriede was known for her love of birds, fishing, quilting, and gardening. She was also deeply committed to her faith and her community, serving on various church committees. She was a dedicated member of the Conesville United Methodist Church and proudly served in the Virginia-Franklin-Conesville Ladies Firemen Auxiliary for 33 years.
Elfriede is survived by her friends, Joey Darr and Trevor Ridenbaugh, both of Wills Creek, as well as the Wills Creek neighborhood.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and her sisters, Rose Marie and Ruth.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Franklin Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Chapin officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Elfriede’s name to the Conesville United Methodist Church and/or Meals on Wheels America.
