

George Everett Dawson, 83, of West Lafayette, Ohio, passed away on January 17, 2012. He was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, on August 4, 1928, the son of the late Will and Susan (Miller) Dawson. George graduated from Roscoe High School in 1946, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army from Jan. 3, 1951 to December 12, 1952. He was employed for 40 years at Coshocton Grain Co., retiring in 1990. He was a member of the former VFW 2040, and enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and building houses for his family members. On June 12, 1954, he married Shirley Stocker Dawson, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Kevin George Dawson of West Lafayette, Deanne (Larry) Haines of Warsaw, Ohio, Evelyn (Glenn) Fleming of Coshocton, and Judy Bower of Newark, Ohio, his seven grandchildren, Larry C.(Crystal) Haines, Aaron Fleming and his fiancée, Danielle Saunier, Erica Fleming, Dustin Bower, Kaitlin Bower, Brandon Dawson, and Ryan Dawson. George was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bill and Harold Dawson. A private family service will take place in Coshocton Co. Memory Gardens at a later date, with the Coshocton Co. Veterans Council officiating. There will be no public services. Given Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton is serving the family.
