Harold Ott

Harold Eugene Ott, age 83, of West Lafayette, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Harold was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 4, 1931 to the late Edward Victor and Francis Henrita (Niehou) Ott. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree. On June 25, 1955, he married Natalie (Lewis) Ott, who survives. Harold worked in education, and became Principle with Coshocton City Elementary Schools before he retired in 1985. He also spent 13 years working as a Real Estate Agent for Century 21. He was a member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, enjoyed collecting baseball cards, liked geology and collecting rocks and arrowheads, enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, and was an avid Reds and Ohio State fan. Harold was a member of the Newcomerstown Elks, and Rotary Club. He was a co-founder of Coshocton County Head Start, a co-founder of West Lafayette EMS, and spent his whole life performing community service. In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by sons, Paul (Patty) Ott, and Mark (Julie) Ott; daughters, Robin Camacho (Joe Johnson), Lori Ott (Scott Schulte), and Karen Bantum (Davis Lacombe); grandchildren, Shelby Johnson, Logan Johnson, Sean Jones, Rachel Jones, Samantha Burkhart, Megan Schulte, Christy Ott, Kate Ott, Elizabeth Ott, Josh (Lindsey) Bantum, Jason Bantum, Daniel Ott, Lane Ott, and Conner Ott; and former son-in-law and family friend, Mike (Charlene) Bantum. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by brothers, Victor Ott, and Edward Ott; and infant sister, Lorrane Ott. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at West Lafayette United Methodist Church, 120 W. Union Ave. West Lafayette, with Pastor Sue Chidley officiating.
