

Surrounded by family, Helen JoAnn “JoJo” Norman, 84, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Genesis Hospital on Thursday, February 25, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born in Coshocton on August 13, 1931, to the late Russell H. and Irma B. “Nannie” Moore.
JoAnn was a 1949 graduate of Coshocton High School. On July 13, 1951, JoAnn married William J. Norman, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2013, after 62 years of marriage. They operated Norman Horse Farm. She also worked at Clary Brother’s Florist for several years and has operated the Horseman’s Restaurant at the Coshocton County Fair every year since 1987. JoAnn was a devoted, compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor and friend. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, coffee with good friends, working in her flower gardens, reading, classic movies, and cheering on the Buckeyes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and her family. JoAnn was an active member of Park United Methodist Church, as well as the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Ohio Harness Horseman Association.
JoAnn is survived by her son-in-law, whom she loved as a son, Dan Hardesty and his wife, Tina, of West Lafayette; granddaughters, Brittany (Justin) Howell of Coshocton and Emily Hardesty of West Lafayette; great-granddaughter, Lexi Howell; sisters-in-law, Judy (Richard) Ellenberger of Toledo, Nancy Latier of Coshocton, and Cathy Norman of Florida; brother-in-law, Jack Lyons of Athens; several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly; and many lifelong friends.
In addition to her husband, Bill, JoAnn is preceded in death by her children, Susan “Susie” Hardesty and William “Bill” Norman; sisters, Lois Lyons and Marie Cores; brother, Russell Moore; and brother-in-law, Tom Cores.
A Celebration of JoAnn’s Life to share memories of JoJo will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Park United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeremy Roseberry and Pastor Denny Rinehart officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends and share a meal immediately following the Celebration of Life service at the church.
