Hunter “Buck” David Chastain, age 18, of Coshocton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home. He was born in St. Lucie County, Florida on December 4, 2007, to Melissa Garber and Claude Chastain.
Hunter worked for The Corn Crib in Walhonding, Ohio. He was known for having a heart of gold and kindness that touched everyone who knew him. Hunter never hesitated to lend a helping hand and would do anything for anyone, always putting the needs of others before his own. His generosity, compassion, and selfless spirit will be remembered as a lasting legacy by all of those who know and love him.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures and had a deep love for animals, especially his dog, Duke. Hunter loved picking wildflowers for his mom and sister; he also enjoyed cars, fishing, music, playing video games, and going to the Arcade with his sister. He had a love for law enforcement, wanting to become a Police Officer some day and always backed the blue; but above all, Hunter loved spending time with his family.
He will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Melissa (David Knicely) Garber of Coshocton and father, Claude Chastain of Zanesville; his sister, Alexis (fiancé Austin Conger) Chastain, two half-brothers, Richard and Christopher Chastain; uncles, Dan (Stephanie) Garber, Joseph Chastain and Johnny Chastain; grandmother, Margo (John) Williamson; great-grandmother, Virginia Bantum and several other loving family and friends.
Hunter was proceeded in death by his grandfather, Terry Garber, grandparents, Brenda and JT Chastain, and great-grandparents, Russell and Mary Garber and Richard Bantum.
