John "Jack" Ernest Conrad Jr.

March 1, 1937February 8, 2018

John E. “Jack” Conrad, Jr., age 80, of West Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018.

Jack was born in Newcomerstown on March 1, 1937 to the late John Ernest and Lois (Steger) Conrad. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Lyons) Conrad, and three children: John E. Conrad III, Stephanie (Joe) Moore, and Brian Keith Conrad; four grandchildren: Tara Moore, Joey Moore, Amber Conrad, and Mandy Conrad; one brother, David Conrad, and one sister, Betsy Conrad.

Along with his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Hannah Nicole, and beloved pug, Winston.

In 1954, Jack joined the Navy and served on the Destroyer USS Leary until 1958. After cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean, he returned home and married Linda, raised his children, and worked at General Electric until his retirement in 1992. His love of the outdoors, nature, and hunting led to a sport that was shared by his entire family. Jack’s strength, humor, love of family (including his dogs), and his patriotism will be remembered by all who loved him in return.

Per the family’s wishes, a cremation will take place followed by an interment at a later date.

For those who wish, contributions can be made to ASPCA at P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20077.
