Richard R Grier
March 28, 1962 – January 29, 2019
Richard Robert Grier, age 55 of Coshocton, succumbed to a lifelong battle with diabetes on Tuesday January 29th, 2019.
“Dick” was born in Dennison, Ohio on March 28, 1963 to Jean Ann (Wolfe) Olinger and David C Grier of Coshocton. He had a bonus father, John Olinger, whom no parent can compare. Dick was previously employed at the Gerstenslager Company of Wooster, Ohio and was also self-employed in construction before his retirement. He left River View High School early to join The United States Army. He was very proud of his service and those who served with him. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, The Pittsburgh Steelers, and teasing the youngsters of the family. Dick was often seen with a bottle of Mountain Dew in one hand and a can Copenhagen in the other, those were his life line. Surviving are Parents, Jean Ann (John) Olinger, Sister, Sheila (Bobby) Loy, all of Coshocton; Sons, Michael Grier of Warsaw and Daughter Brittany (Mike) Havird of Newberry, South Carolina; bonus children whom he loved dearly are son, Christopher (Meghan) Sheppard of Coshocton and daughters Brittany (Chris) Bonn of Norfolk VA, Brandi (Josh) Gambill, and Kimberly Gallagher all of Coshocton. There are 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A longtime friend Mike Nation completes his family. He was preceded in death by His sister Cheryl Grier and brother, Steven David Grier.
In closing, Dickie wants you to know that The Pittsburgh Steelers are the greatest in the NFL, Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best rock group, Clint Eastwood is the baddest man on the planet, and that chicks dig El Caminos. Following his wishes, there will not be a service, but well-wishers are encouraged to say a note of farewell with a swig of Jack Daniels in his honor.
