

Tweet was born on February 2, 1929 in Coshocton to the late William and Jenny (Perry) Mathews. After graduating high school, he went on to work as a fireman, a steel worker for Clow, and then as a groundskeeper for Hickory Flats Golf Course. Tweet served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1952. Tweet married Minnie (Freetage) Mathews on May 5, 1951. Tweet was a member of the Central Christian Church of Coshocton. He also was a member of the Coshocton Elks Lodge #376, and the American Legion Post 65. Tweet was an avid golfer and enjoyed many sports.
Tweet is survived by his wife Minnie; three sons, Robert (Marianne) Mathews, Bret (Deborah) Mathews, and Craig (Amy) Mathews. He also has seven grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle), Dylan, Brock, Jack, Max, Grant, and Hannah; and three step-grandchildren, Drew, Ryan, and Henley Jackson.
Along with his parents, Tweet is preceded in death by his son Kevin, grandson Kyle, and five siblings, Helen Seward, Evelyn Mencer, Dorothy Nelson, Frank Mathews, Sr., and William Mathews.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. with Reverend Phil Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
