Ronald O. "Tiny" Gordon quietly went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 2, at CCMH. Born March 26, 1948, in Neptune NJ, to Helen Hyres Gordon and Oscar Hammond. He is survived by his wife Susan (Shaw), daughter Rebecca, granddaughter Vanessa, all of West Lafayette; sister Robin (Ralph) Calello, Boca Ratan FL; brothers Roger, Spring Lake Heights NJ; Ross, Cambridge OH; aunt Linda (Jim) Wenzel, Albany IN; sisters-in-law: Sharon (Bob) Lenhart, Bowling Green KY; Sharlynn (Dan) Smith, Sally Ann Hickman, Sandy Shaw, all of West Lafayette; Sheryl (Matt) Wyscarver, Galena OH; brother-in-law Don (Judy) Shaw, Taneytown MD; sister-in-law Patty Gordon, Manasquan NJ; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Helen, adoptive father, Loy Gordon; grandparents Russel and Mary Gordon; brother Russel Gordon; mother-in-law, Jane Shaw; and nephew Eric Gordon. He also leaves behind the Roger, Dave, Steve, and Rob Warne families who loved him and "adopted" him here in Coshocton County.
Ron graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1966, attended Rio Grande College for 3 years, and attained an associate degree in computer technology from Ohio University. He worked as a quality-control lab technician for General Electric Coshocton plant until his retirement. He has spent that retirement caring for his granddaughter Vanessa, the shining star of his life, and serving the Lord and his family and friends. He was a member of the Fresno Bible Church where he served as a substitute Sunday School teacher. chaplain for the church trustees, and one-on-one mentor. He attended and helped lead a neighborhood Bible study group, He was on the set-building crew for the Coshocton Footlight Players for many years and was a member of the local Moose club.In his prime, he enjoyed bow-hunting, motorcycling, all kinds of music, playing hausey with friends, attending live theater performances and concerts (from hard rock to Christian), and was a pretty good ping-pong and pool player. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and dreamed of seeing them in a Super Bowl some day.
He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a strong Christian man. While he will be missed by many, he is now free from pain and rejoicing in the presence of God and his Lord Jesus Christ. It doesn't get any better than that!
A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Cutshall officiating. Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m and one hour prior to the service on Friday,
