The world lost one of its most beloved Heroes, a loving Spouse, wonderful Father, joke-loving Grandpa and Brother, Ronald Lee Wise died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the age of 82 years.

Visitation with the Wise family was held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel in Brenham, TX.

Ron was born March 9, 1936 in Coshocton, Ohio to Damian Lawrence and Florence Isabel (Neal) Wise, the first of seven children.

He is survived by: his wife, Barbara (Tyson) Wise of Burton; daughter, Monique (Wise) Byrne and husband G. Bland of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Derek Wise and wife Dawn of Brenham; grandchildren, Devin Wise and Desiree Wise of Brenham and Monique “Nikki” Byrne of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Damian “Larry” Wise and wife Marty and Edgar “Ed” Wise and wife Donna all of Frazeysburg, Ohio; sister, Bonny (Wise) Massengill of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rebecca Moody and Ellen Underwood and brother David Wise.

Ron graduated from Frazeysburg High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in 1960. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was honorably discharged in 1965.

His vocation was in Home Office Life Insurance, spending 25 years with Grange Mutual in Columbus, Ohio. He then relocated to Austin, Texas and spent eight years at United Teacher Association. His career concluded with Germania Insurance in Brenham in 1994. He spent 10 years with them and made the town of Brenham his home.

Ron and Barbara were married on September 14, 1958 in Dresden, Ohio. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on September 14, 2018.

Ron’s upbringing cultivated his love of exotic birds and Barbados sheep as well as exotic plants and shrubs. The care of Bonsai plants passed many pleasant hours. He was an accomplished artist of subjects in nature and enjoyed traveling. He will truly be missed.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Sunday, June 16, 2109 from 9:45 am to 10:30 am. Burial will follow at 11 am at South Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brenham’s Citizens on Patrol, 1800 Longwood Dr., Brenham, TX 77833.
