OBITUARY
Shirley Elaine Dawson
September 16, 1935 – January 22, 2021
Shirley Elaine Dawson, age 85, of Baltic, formally of Coshocton, passed away at Oak Point Care Center in Baltic, on Friday, January 22, 2021. She was born in Newcomerstown on September 16, 1935, to the late Walter and Ruth (Grewell) Stocker.
After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1953, she married George Dawson on June 12, 1954. Shirley was a member of the Coshocton Eagles, Moose and Army Navy. She enjoyed playing cards, shuffle board, pool and bowling. She loved spending time with family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four children, Deanne Haines of Warsaw, Evelyn (Glenn) Fleming of Coshocton, Kevin Dawson of West Lafayette and Judy Bower of Newark; grandchildren, Aaron (Dani) Fleming, Larry (Crystal) Haines, Dustin (Megan) Bower, Erica Fleming, Brandon (Girlfriend Melissa) Dawson and Kaitlin (Ray) Hosfeld; great-grandchildren, Claire and Audrey Haines and Quinn Bower; sister, Tacy Hewitt of Florida and sister-in-law, Delores Stocker of West Lafayette.
Along with her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband George who passed away on January 17, 2012, her grandson, Ryan Dawson who passed away on September 20, 2014; son-in-law, Larry Haines; sisters, Ruth Mossman and Opal Stonebrook; and brothers, Willis Stocker, Marvin Stocker and Edward Stocker.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, social distancing measures will be in place and there will be a limited number of people inside the funeral home at a time. We also ask that you please wear a facemask at all times for the health and safety of our guests and employees.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 am at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with Reverend Shannon Caplinger officiating.
