

Shirley B. Scholl, age 92 died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in Centerville, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. She was born February 23, 1923, in Leckie, WV to the late William and Tamsie (Browning) Brown. Shirley was the last surviving sibling of thirteen, and we pay tribute to the entire Brown family.
She married Louis Scholl on June 27, 1943, in the Post Chapel in Malden, Mo. She graduated from Williamson High School in Williamson, WV, and attended the Ohio State University and Muskingum College. She was a resident of Coshocton from 1951 to 1993 and an active member of the Park United Methodist Church before moving to New Concord until 2005 where she was an active member of the New Concord United Methodist Church. She then moved to Centerville, OH, to be near her daughter.
Shirley is survived by five children: Shirley (Larry) Dowdy of Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Mary Lou (John) Andrews of Centerville, Ohio, William (Susan) Scholl of the Villages of Florida, David (Sandy) Scholl of Cambridge, Ohio, and Thomas (Marcia) Scholl of Union, KY.; She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ann Hodges of Athens, GA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a grandson, Jon Helmandollar, who passed away in 2006.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of St. Leonard’s in Centerville, Ohio, for their continuous support and care during her illness.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio 43812. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
