Deanna Dean (Slader) Cocroft, 81 years old, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019.

Dea, as many knew her, was born and grew up in Nutley, NJ, the oldest of seven children. She moved to California when she married Neil C Cocroft of Santa Ana in 1954. They had two sons together, Donald and Gregory. Although they would get divorced, they remained friendly and attended many family functions together.

Dea worked in the Newport Beach / Costa Mesa area as a receptionist and executive assistant for several local doctors over the years. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in Costa Mesa, and was involved in a bible study group which she enjoyed with friends.

Dea loved music. Some of her favorite musicians were Glen Miller, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, Randy Travis, Glen Campbell, Sting, and Bob Marley. Dea also loved to sew, crochet, and knit. She is most famous for her handmade flannel blankets, which are prized for their warm snuggle factor.

Dea was a very proud and loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend. She is survived by her sons Donald, Gregory, Vanessa (daughter-in-law), and her grandchildren Ian, Lauren, Bailey, and Sarah.

Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Harbor Lawn-Mt Olive Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave. Costa Mesa, CA 92626.

I have such wonderful memories of Aunt Dea. I loved her homemade pjs and stuffed animals. Just about 5 years ago, she sent me a scarf ( of course with directions on how to wash it lol) I didn't see her often, but when I did it was always a great memory. I will miss her, much love to my cousins, Don and Greg and their families. Love always Terry
