Mike was born on August 27, 1954, in Huntington, West Virginia. Shortly after his birth, he moved with his family to Staten Island, New York, where he lived until the age of 12. His family then headed west to Southern California, settling in Seal Beach, where Mike spent the remainder of his childhood.
While attending Los Alamitos High School, Mike began what would become a long and dedicated career with Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery. Over the years, he served in a variety of roles, including General Manager, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues and customers alike. He later transitioned into industrial sales and management with Applied Industrial Technologies, where he worked until his retirement in 2021.
Mike’s greatest joys in life were his children, granddaughter, extended family, and friends. Anyone who knew Mike knew of his love of sports—all sports. He looked forward to each season with great excitement, sharing that passion with family and friends. He passed that love down to both of his children, creating a beautiful bond they will always cherish. Mike had a remarkable gift for building lasting relationships—if you were his friend, you were a friend for life.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Bridges, and his stepfather, Walter Bridges. He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Schley (Byron); his son, Steven Murray; his beloved granddaughter, Audrey Schley; his sister, Robin Rubino; his niece, Madison Rubino; and his nephew, Michael Rubino.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, along with a private burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
Mike will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
