Do, ThiNgoc Loan, age 87, passed away peacefully at home in Tustin on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. She was born on March 20th, 1936 in Saigon, Vietnam to father Do, Quang Sang and mother Bui, Thi Thiet. She celebrated her 87th birthday with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the prior week at Benihana.
Mrs. Duong met and married her husband Duong, Hong Quy in Saigon, Vietnam; together they had four children. She and her family decided to immigrate to the United States in 1978. She took pride in her and her husband’s decision to escape from Vietnam to make a better future for their children. They first arrived in Minnesota; then eventually relocated to Southern California, where they planted strong roots for their family to grow.
Mrs. Duong was a dedicated wife and mother. She was the definition of small but mighty. She supported her husband and children in every way. Her determination and resolve kept a refugee boat from leaving her husband behind, allowing him to safely board and reunite with his family.
Her pride and joy was her family. Her love commitment for her husband was unmatched, and never wavered throughout their 65 years of marriage. She was a homemaker her whole life, and her dedication to that humble job was revered by her family. Waking up every early morning to make breakfast for her husband and to prepare lunch boxes for her children during their college years were a few examples of such dedication. With her support, her husband and children were able to focus on advancing their education and careers. When she became a grandmother, she continued devoting herself to guiding the next generation, practicing spelling words with the grandchildren. She took great pride in that her grandchildren were as successful as the generation before. Throughout her life, Mrs. Duong enjoyed music, movies, annual family vacations, and countless family gatherings. She was generous and respected by all who knew her.
