Ernest “Ernie” Taft Senser of Laguna Woods, 90, passed away on January 17, 2019. He was born October 14, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Philip and Fannie Senser. Ernie is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Gabrielle Senser, three children, Jerrold Senser(Naomi), Lynn Sanders (Gary) and Kenneth Senser (Debra), 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Alan Senser and sister Bessie Bayer.
After graduating from the Ohio State University in 1951, Ernie served as an Army Rifleman in the Korean War and advanced to the rank of Sergeant. He had a life long passion for learning and teaching others. After his discharge, Ernie spent 30 years teaching vocational electronics at West Tech High School in Cleveland. Ernie didn’t think highly of sitting around. Following his retirement, he had several “mini-careers” where he applied his vast set of professional skills.
Ernie was a ham radio operator (W6ETS) and devoted much time and energy to this hobby. He served as treasurer of the Laguna Woods Amateur Radio Club and was active in many radio-related organizations. Ernie continually studied technology as it advanced from vacuum tubes to digital components.
It is fitting considering Ernie’s love of ham radio that he was also very much a “ham”. His corny sense of humor will be remembered by many. Ernie passed this gene to his children and many of his grandchildren. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words were impactful.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 21, at Harbor Lawn/Mt. Olive Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave, Costa Mesa, CA.
Please do not bring flowers, thank you.
