Helen Lichtenstein Periu, 48, of Boca Raton, FL passed away unexpectedly in Laguna Beach, CA on April 29, 2017. Helen was born in New York to amazing parents, Alberto and Anita Lichtenstein. Helen grew up in Bay Terrace in Bayside, NY with her older brother, Mark Lichtenstein, and younger sister, Sharyn Schoen. Living in Bay Terrace, Helen enjoyed the closest of friendships and a childhood filled with the love of her family. Helen spent most of her childhood years training and dancing for Renee Ricca. She was an incredible dancer starring in many recitals. Helen spent her childhood summers at Camp Na-Sho-Pa. She later moved to Boca Raton, FL. where she began working in the retail industry, following right in her late father, Alberto’s, footsteps, who was a the successful owner of the high- end Italian menswear chain, Clappers and Succa Di Lana stores. Helen later pursued a career in fine jewelry where she worked for the prestigious company, Mayor’s. It was at Mayor’s where Helen’s talents really sparkled. Not only was she young and beautiful, but she was a remarkable and an incredibly successful salesperson. Helen earned the number 1 spot as top salesperson of the year for multiple years earning the maximum number of diamond rings that fit on the “Mayor’s Crest”; a remarkable achievement earned by very few seasoned professionals.
Helen met the love of her life, Omar Periu, at the age of 19. It was early in their relationship that they adopted, Schmooboo, the Persian cat, which mark the beginning of the beautiful life they would build together. Helen and Omar later married and went on to have 2 beautiful children, Alexandra and Maxwell. Once Alexandra was born, Helen became a full-time Mom. She spent her days loving and caring for her children. She loved them so much! Helen was so proud of Alexandra and Maxwell and did everything she could for her kids. They were her entire world. Goldie, the Golden Retriever, joined the family a few years ago and became Helen’s fur baby. Helen loved spending the days at the Beach Club, dining out, spending time with family and friends and vacationing during the summers in Laguna Beach.
Helen was stunningly beautiful and so full of life. She was uncontrollably generous; she would most definitely give you the shirt off her back just to see you happy. Helen was absolutely hilarious and her one-liners will live on forever. Her laugh was infectious. Helen loved to shop; oh boy did she love to shop! She also had such a keen sense of style and was a trend predictor; she always knew the next hot trend before it hit the streets. Helen was one-of-a-kind. There will never be anyone else like her.
Helen was loved by so many. She was an incredibly successful salesperson, an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in law and sister-in-law. We miss her so much already. We will make sure her spirit lives on forever and always. Until we see you again, Helen. Please watch over us and keep us safe. We love you mucho, mucho schmooboo.
