Ildi and I were friends virtually all our lives, and our families were also friendly back in Hungary. We both lost our fathers who were both killed by the Nazis and were brought up by our mothers who had been childhood friends.
Ildi was one of the smartest women I knew. We were school classmates in Budapest and then at college T City University of New York. Ildi was one of the few women who graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in the 1960’s.
She was a loving and devoted daughter and later a caring and loving wife to Steve. She cherished Steve’s daughter Laura and her daughters and grandchildren. They were her family.
Ildi’s love of traveling, skiing and music kept our correspondence over the years very lively with shared common interests. With Steve she visited us in New York several times and we skied together at Vail.
I am unable to attend her memorial service but she will remain in my thoughts forever.
Julia Roboz, New York
