I was Jacob's physics and math teacher at St. Anthony High School, and I am very shocked and saddened to learn of Jacob's passing this summer.

May his family and friends be comforted by the memory of a wonderful young man.



Jakey is what I consider contagious brightness & love. I know he’ll radiate his kindness forever & every soul he touched will continue spreading that same beautiful feeling. He was there for my little brother whenever he needed & I reflect back on how much I appreciate his unconditional support. He’ll always have mine. I’ll love him forever & feel absolutely blessed to have met such a perfect kid.  

We knew Jake through Long Beach Junior Crew. He rowed with our son, who’s a little older. Even though Jake was younger, our son said Jake taught him true teamwork and sportsmanship. He will never forget the bus rides to regattas with Jake. Smart with a keen sense of humor and all-around quality person. What a loss. Big hands are holding him now. Rest In Peace Jake in that crew in the sky.  Our love and healing prayers to your dear family.

Jake was an awesome kid. Although I haven’t been close with him since we played 12u water polo together, he was always nice to me and polite to everyone around him. A memory that came to mind of Jakey when I heard of his tragic passing was when we were getting ready for a game on Super bowl weekend and right before we lined up, he asked our coach at the time who he wanted to win the Super Bowl. It was not great timing but it made everyone on the team laugh. I love you Jakey, may you Rest In Peace.

There are never enough words to express our sorrow and the pain we share with you. We’ve been friends for over 25 years and we will be here to support, comfort and love you now and forever.  Jake brought such joy to everyone.

Jake was an extraordinary son, brother, grandson and friend to all. We love you.

May Peace be with you, my condolences to your family.

I had Jacob in class as a freshman. I immediately remember his kind eyes, smile, and voice. Mr. and Mrs. Cassel, my heart is broken for you and for your whole family. I offered Mass for him today and included him and you in my Rosary prayers today. I will continue to do so.

Jakey always had the biggest smile and it was contagious to those around him. We will always remember his happiness and joy and the kindness he showed to others.  Love Kim and Alex Brooke 

I rowed on Long Beach Junior Crew women’s team for three years in high school before I went on to cox at SMU. Jake was apart of the first set of campers I got to coach at the learn-to-row camps. He was one of the good ones; he never failed to help others, always worked hard, always smiled. He went on to be a coach and helper later, and I know he left his mark on all of those campers along with everyone else around him.
