John received an Associate degree from Orange Coast College. He was a highly skilled and creative carpenter and licensed contractor. Building and remodeling homes was his passion. He spent over 30 years in the field. He also enjoyed designing and building various creative projects for family, friends, and clients. His motto was, "You dream it, I'll build it!" John also worked for Crate and Barrel for over 20 years where he was loved by his coworkers and well-known for being the go to guy for above and beyond customer service or anything the store needed. He had an impeccable work ethic and instilled in others the importance of top quality and hard work. John was athletic, a racquetball champion in early adulthood, and an avid sports fan who enjoyed competition and was willing to try almost anything once.
John was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Lucy Castro. He is survived by his fiance, Shannon "Shay" Brown, his five sisters: Theresa Martinez, Arlene Torbert, Gloria Perez, Celia Sawyer, and Dora Juarequi, eight nephews, three nieces, three brother-in-laws and one grandniece.
