Larry, I will miss you dearly. You were always willing to lend a hand, listen, and support me in my choices in life. Your positivity and the light you bring to a room will always be remembered.

What we chose to share at Grandpa's service...

From Vicki:
 I lived most of my life on Congress street, never wanting to leave because it was a home filled of love, laughter and lots of food. One year Nana got grandpa and I sockem boppers for Christmas because we would always play fight with each other;  he always had that playful spirit. My fondest memory has to be when Grandpa got on his gym kick. One day I saw him there and he knew everyone at the gym like he did everywhere else. He would just make conversation with anyone and a lot of times it was awkward to watch because the stuff he would say was so random. That day at the gym he came over to tell me he was leaving and he had the sweat band I bought him pushed up at his hairline and his hair was sticking straight up. I was embarrassed for him so I I tried to fix his hair, but he didn't care…and that's what was so special about him. Grandpa did things his way and he didn't care about peoples judgments. He didn't change himself to blend in with everyone else. He had his own way and we all really loved that about him.
Grandpa, I will miss you…I will miss you ever so much.

Grandpa had the most infectious, unfiltered personality. He always had a knack for lifting your spirits and was a true kid at heart. Every single year, without fail, Grandpa would call to inform me of the date of our annual polar express train riding tradition. When he got on that train bound for the north pole, taking us to see santa, he enjoyed watching the great grandchildren burst with excitement. He loved introducing the great grandchildren to new things and ensured that old traditions continued. 
Grandpa, I'm going to miss sharing our secret stash of beef jerky in Laughlin. I'm going to miss your back slaps followed by the “how are you's”; I'm going to miss him from the bottom of my heart, and I promise that I will follow all the traditions we made together. I will eat that beef jerky for the both of us and You will live on in the stories and memories I share with my children. 
From Samantha: 
I have been going on road trips and camping trips with Grandpa since I was a little girl. One particular memory that stands out is the camping trip where we made baked potatoes. Grandpa told us to take our potatoes and cover them in foil and throw them into the fire. So of course, we followed. We thought he KNEW what he was doing. Only problem is that there was no way of getting the potatoes out of the flames. The next morning we recovered our potatoes, they were charred chunks wrapped in foil. Needless to say I became the unofficial camping cook after that trip. 
Grandpa, you really did make my childhood amazing, without you I would have missed out on so many experiences. I am thankful for having you in my life and there will never be a day that I won't miss you or think of you…

When I think of my most cherished memories, I think about how he was my sports buddy. We watched everything from football to basketball to baseball together. Every Sunday we watched football on his  big screen, cheering on our teams with a little friendly competition. And EVERY time his team would lose, he would still talk about how good his team was and how the other team just got LUCKY! 
Grandpa, I'm going to miss not only watching football with you but your loud laugh, your crazy humor and most of all…just you. I love you Grandpa.

When I think of my Grandpa, I think of a human GPS and master of inventory, since he always knew where everything was. When I think back on the times we most spent, I reflect on the polar express train ride at Christmas. Every Christmas he made sure we went and took pictures with Santa, made decorations and snacked on cider & cookies.
Grandpa, from the moment I called you “my Granpda”, I have ALWAYS treasured all of the things we've done together, all the memories we shared, the many laughs and the many adventures. I will miss you every day…

From Sal:
Larry and I lived together for 1 LONG year. We didn't always get along and that was putting it lightly. Often times Larry (or as I called him Taylor) would water his lawn two times a day and then blame me for the high water bill because I washed my car once that month. It drove me crazy. And if something went missing in his disorganized garage, I got the blame. But something changed after I moved out…and our relationship turned into something I can't explain. 
Grandpa, You were one of my best friends and I was truly honored to be your best man when you renewed your vows. I will miss your many phone calls and the card games we played. I am thankful and grateful for both you and Beverly, taking me in (as well as all of the other son in law's) and accepting us with open arms. I speak collectively for all of us, when we say it's been amazing being a part of this family and I will miss you.
From William:
I can't think of one story to share about Grandpa because there are too many to count. We spent most weekends together and most weekdays, because I was Grandpa's handy man. Whatever Grandpa needed fixed, trimmed or taken down from the Garage…was my job. I'm not going to say that pleasing Grandpa was easy because he always yelled, he always told me to do something that was likely dangerous and sometimes it wasn't always the smartest way to get it done. I will never forget the year we put up Christmas lights in the pouring rain or the fact that he complained from under the protected walk way, for us to hurry it up.
Grandpa, you were one of my best friends and I will truly treasure all the time we spent together. I will miss your voice, the way you yelled my name and then how you would apologize a minute later. I will never forget how passionate you were about your fritos and yet, how you would share them when I asked for some. Words cannot describe how much you meant to me…
From Robert: 
My favorite memory of Grandpa has to be  “BRUCE-STEEN” and how difficult he made it for all of us to guess who: “that one guy was...you know from that one movie…”
Grandpa, I'm sorry for passing out while camping and sliding under your truck and I'm sorry for never being able to find all the easter eggs you hid on Easter. Though, I secretly know that you loved that I was always the last one who couldn't find his eggs! 
Grandpa, thank you for all the beautiful memories, the camping trips and the moments we shared. I will miss you…

Some of my fondest memories of grandpa were going up to Idaho on two different times to be included in his family reunion. These trips gave me the opportunity to visit different places and experience so many new things that I had never done before, such as camping and fishing. Although I never caught one single fish, it was still one of the best things I ever did with Grandpa. I remember our chairs next to the lake, fishing poles in the river and grandpa talking about random wildlife facts and stories from when he was younger. 
Grandpa, I will continue to do the things we did together, in your honor. Next time I pitch a tent, catch a fish or play on a slot machine, I will be saying…”grandpa, this one is for you…”

It was Grandpa and the three boys (Will, Rob and I) and we were ready to fish in the Salten Sea. It smelled horrible and dead fish were floating by the shore. The only fish we caught that day was dead and it was with a net! When we had finished admiring that gross fish, we turned to Grandpa who was getting ready to cast out one last time before finally calling it a day. It was a glorious cast and it flew in the air, triumphantly, before smooth  tailing it down towards the water. SMACK! The hook landed right on a seagull that realized immediately what had happened and took to the sky. Grandpa hooked a bird! Gramps stood up being pulled by the force of the bird…and all three of us were cracking up. More seagulls gathered to help their hooked bird friend. Grandpa fought and fought before he eventually cut the line.
Grandpa, you were always full of jokes, love and laughter. We spent a lot of time together and I'm thankful for you always including me. You were one of my best friends and I will miss you…

From Lisa: 
 I think what I will remember most from Grandpa, is the time after Nana's passing that he called me to offer me support. We spent an hour on the phone (which is rare for Grandpa) and cried to each other about all the things we missed. I remember telling him how I missed Nana calling me baby girl and how Nana rubbed my arm in a particular way, and so every time Grandpa saw me…he did those things. He would say, “Nana wanted me to do this…”
Grandpa, I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me and our family. I love how after Nana's passing, you embraced all of her traditions without skipping a beat . You were full of life and love, you gave me so many beautiful memories and stories…and I will never ever forget you.



Grandpa's place in this family will always be cherished. God gifted him to us. After Grandpa Bill's passing, we feel that God found the one man who could fill of our hearts with love, joy and a lifetime of memories…he found OUR Grandpa.

Larry, the aura of our neighborhood has been forever changed and can never be the same.  With out your voice, which I could here even if I was in the back bedroom,  (and miss it terribly), an era has ended. "It seems to me a crime that we should age. These fragile times shall never pass us by.  A time we never can or shall a erase, as friends together watch their childhoods fly.  Making friends for the world to see. Let's the people know, you got what you need.  With a friend at hand you shall see the light. With our friends together everything's all right."  Good Bye Larry.

I will miss you!

Pops I am really going to miss you. I have such a heavy heart right now. I am really going to miss our "Valley View" trips, our annual Laughlin trip as well as our trips to the North Pole via the Polar express and those wonderful fun family trips we always took to the Magic Kingdom.  Life will never be the same without you in it. No matter where we went you were always smiling and having the time of your life. I want you to know I really enjoyed taking care of you these last few weeks and are forever grateful that you trusted me to take care of you. I am truly lost right now with you being gone but know that each day will get better. I am comforted knowing that you are are not suffering anymore and are with my mama. I know how much you still missed her. Love you always Peggy

Larry, I always enjoyed our baseball and sports talks when you'd stop by to empty my trash & collect my cans with your daily "are you finished with your soda?" I never did finish my sodas & now think I bought them just for your recycling collection. You did this earth a great favor Larry among many other nice things for us at City Hall. Enjoy retirement in Heaven......

Larry, you will be missed so much, but you are now with Bev and we all will see you again one day. You are in your forever home and at peace.. We will always remember your smile.. You were truly a joy to be around. I am just happy and proud to have known you...Forever loved and never forgotten...
