Larry was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia the second son of Charles "Otis" Sutton, Jr and Myrtice Sutton.
Shortly after his birth he went home to grow up on a farm in Abbeville, Georgia surrounded by the loving arms of his Parents, Grandparents, brother Charles, 14 Aunts and 19 Uncles. He and his brother were constant companions working the farm, driving the tractor, raising crops of tobacco, cotton, peanuts, pigs and cattle. They worked hard but were especially appreciative of their loving parents and family. Larry attended Abbeville High School and graduated in a class of 22 students in 1965, the largest graduating class ever. The school was closed that year and a county high school was established. At 17, the day after graduation he left for the U.S. Navy. The Vietnam war and the draft was eminent so he joined the Navy. Before he left for the Navy he was baptized at Liberty Hill Methodist Church. He went to boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and upon completion was assigned to the naval station in Long Beach. On October 28, 1965 he was the second choice of his friend Steve to go on a blind date. On that date he met a lady named Sharon Greenwood who was also the second choice of her friend Peggy. They dated for 2 years before their marriage on April 3, 1967. Larry was then assigned to the USS Coral Sea and served two tours of duty in the Tonkin Gulf with a little detour to North Korea in 1967. He loved the Navy but was honorably discharged at the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer in 1968.
Larry and Sharon lived a year in Georgia in1968 and moved back to California in 1969. Larry worked at several jobs before starting to work in Costa Mesa at Orange Coast Trailer Supply in 1971. When he was hired he took his middle name Glenn because the current manager was named Larry. He worked as a welder installing trailer hitches, working on motor homes, trailers of all kind, if it was broken he could fix it. He later purchased the business and when he closed the business in 2018 he was working for the grandchildren of some of his original customers. Larry worked hard treated his customers fairly and never cheated anyone. He loved his customers and they supported him, never had a law suit for inferior workmanship or a bad check in all of the years and it was with very mixed emotions that he closed the shop. It was well known that Larry "Glenn" worked hard and cared deeply about his customers and all people.
Larry adjusted to retirement fast, and was able to enjoy several cross country trips with his wife. In addition, he was always up for a road trip with his grandkids. We all wanted more but God had a different plan. Larry loved the Lord, he loved his family and he loved life.
Larry is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Antony, Gary (wife Alia), David (wife Kandel) and Grandchildren,
Alexandrea, Tyler, Jerrid, Daniel, Sophia and Great Grandson Rory.
