Martin Stein

Marty was born on January 22, 1950 to Bobbi and Floyd Stein of Highland Park, IL. After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1969 Marty attended USC and law school in Los Angeles, and enjoyed a successful career as an attorney in Southern CA for many years. He met and married Linda Grant in 1981, and together they have three daughters, Lindsey, Kaylie and Adena.

Marty was a man of family, friends, and faith, and passionate about all. Always a positive influence, he was known to many as a mensch, a mentor, and an inspiration. Through his incredible gift of caring and social connection he developed countless friendships and acquaintances, and served his community in a way few are able to do. Friendly and engaging, he touched the lives of many…he listened and heard, and made a difference. His involvement at Temple Eliat in Mission Viejo, CA and then Temple Beth El of South Orange County in Aliso Viejo, CA was endless as he served on many boards and committees, and was a weekly participant in Shabbat services. Among his many accomplishments, his proudest may have been the formation and leadership of the weekly Refuat Hanefesh Healing Service at TBE, serving those in need of comfort and prayer.

Marty is predeceased by his parents, Bobbi and Floyd of Highland Park, IL. He is survived by his wife Linda of Vista, CA; brother Larry (Susan) Stein and sister Sheri Stein Gordon of Highland Park, IL; daughters Lindsey of Ft. Worth, TX, Kaylie (Carl) Sanders, Adena (Jordan) Litke of Carlsbad, CA; and granddaughters Ayven and Kira.

Graveside funeral service at Harbor Lawn-Mount Olive Memorial Park is on Monday, 2/15/21. The service is private, due to Covid 19 restrictions, but will be available to view via Zoom.
