in the home of her granddaughter Lisa and family, where she had lived for the last three and a half years.
Born in 1928 in Chicago, she left that city with her parents while in her teens and the family settled in Lo,s Angeles. After some college and a few job experiences, she met the love of her life Sidney Vogel. Sidney was a businessman, a clothing manufacture subcontractor. Millie quickly became partner and consultant which brought them very close through their common interest. At the same time, she raised two children Jerry & Lynda.
Millie loved to cook and entertain friends and family. Her Jewish faith was very important to her, and she assured that her children, and later grandchildren would become bar and bat mitzvahs. After the children were grown, she travelled with her husband, volunteered for many years at City of Hope, and was active playing tennis and working out at the gym. Sidney and Millie were fabulous dancers and they loved to go out dancing with friends.
When their first grandchild Lisa was born, they moved to Huntington Beach in order to be closer to the new family. It turned out to be a godsend after the passing of Millie’s daughter, Lynda. Millie was a great help with the children and established a bond that was inseparable.
After 59 years of marriage, her true love passed away suddenly. She was with the family much of the time and spent time at the gym with many physical activities and ukelele class. Millie is survived by her son Jerry (Maria) Vogel, and children: Josh and Janine, son-in law Wayne Wiley (Lynda), Grandchildren, Laura Wiley, and Lisa (Wiley) McCall, husband Ian and children Kenneth Jameson "KJ" and Lyla Faye.
Also, Millie is survived by her nephew David (Susie) Baumwohl and sons Michael and Darren. Nephew Louis Vogel (Ann) and their children Benjamin and Micah. Nieces, Faye Vogel, Felice Canter and Susie (Mark) Kornegay and her daughter Jennifer.
Memorial gifts may be made to the City of Hope, or to Temple Beth David in Westminster, California.
