Patricia Diane Hernandez

Hernandez, Patricia Diane, of Costa Mesa, passed away on Wednesday, 9/9/15, after a six year battle with breast cancer. To meet Patty meant to meet comfort. She was always encouraging and a kind heart. To know Patty was to know what it meant to feel love--love from one's fellow human, and one's God. The type of encouragement Patty shared with others was blinding and radiant. It was felt by those who grew up with her, worked with her, sat in church pews with her, and in treatment rooms. Even though Patty is no longer here with us, her spirit and joy, compassion and understanding, will always be with us and will continue to be felt by those lucky enough to have known her. Patty is survived by her husband, Gary; her two sons, Ryan, 22 and Evan, 16; her brothers, Michael, Brian and Dale; sister, Susan; and parents, Richard and Diane Barrett. She is missed by her extended family and friends, as well as her church family at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, where she dedicated much of her time and talents, to the children and her peers. The service will take place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Friday, September 25, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patty's name may be made to Patient Advocate Foundation (www.patientadvocate.org), an organization centered in helping individuals fighting cancer."Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything." - C.S.
