
born as Rosemary Roth in Atchison, Kansas on June 14, 2011, went to Heaven on June 7, 2011, just one week shy of her 100th birthday. Rosemary married Waldemar E. Reckewey in 1932 and the family came to California in 1939, living in Culver City and Van Nuys. After retirement Rosemary moved to Anaheim, moving again to Newport Beach in 1979 at the time of her marriage to Joseph Wood. Rosemary is survived by her two daughters, Joan Kindt, of Indio California, and Sondra Meldahl of Yuma, Arizona, and son-in-law John Kindt. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Wood in 1994. Rosemary was also predeceased by her six siblings. She is survived by her grandchildren Jeffrey and Starr Fair, John Fair II, Kelly and Sheryll Fair, Debbe Kindt, Laurie and Ken Hancock, Stacey and John Kindt, Jr., Lance and Jeannie Wood, and great grandchildren, Isolde Fair, Tarrin Fair, Matthew Aronson, Joshua Kindt, Olivia Kindt, Seren Kindt, Amanda Kindt, Nathan Wood, Annalise Wood, Christian Wood, Bethlehem Wood and Abraham Wood. Rosemary was a dedicated wife and mother, and in addition retired from the telephone company in 1973 after 38 years of service, during which time she advanced to a management position. After retirement she did extensive traveling all over the world, as well as many driving trips in the United States. She engaged in numerous craft activities such as quilting, crocheting, stain glass, ceramics and other sewing arts and crafts. She was able to remain living on her own, in her own home, as she so fervently desired. Only in the past year did she have a part time caregiver. She was immensely loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed. Viewing will be from 3-5 p.m. at Harbor Lawn Mortuary, 1625 Gisler, Costa Mesa, California. The body will be interred in Atchison, Kansas to be buried near her parents, Adam and Katherine Roth. No services are planned.
