

Zina was born on July 15, 1933 in Gomel, Belarus to Sarrah Okun and Mikhail Lubyanitskiy. She survived holocaust with her mother and sisters by evacuating from Belarus to other region of Soviet Union. During that time family had to move several times as Nazis advanced and ended up in Kazakhstan. She survived incredible hardships such as famine, cold, malaria and epidemic typhus. After Belarus was liberated from the Nazis in 1944, she returned with her family to her birthplace, where she graduated from high school.
She worked as a telegraph operator, was greatly valued among her colleagues and was honored at work numerous times. She got married in 1956 to Igor Lvovich , had two children and in 1993 via HIAS services family immigrated to the United States, it first lived in Connecticut for 20 years, and then moved to California.
Zina had an exuberant, vivacious personality. She loved life, people, travel, parties. She was an exceptional cook and loved to entertain friends and family at her house. Her home- made gefilte fish was legendary. She was adored by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was also a discreet confidant and helped her friends with advice in difficult life situations. She had an amazing ability to reach people in deep and meaningful way to the degree that they still remember her even after brief interaction long time ago.
Zinaida is preceded in death by her parents Sarrah and Mikhail, her brother Abram, her oldest sister Anna, and her middle sister Ninel. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Igor Lvovich, her son Arkady of Costa Mesa and her daughter-in-law Luda and their children Gleb and Kevin, and her daughter Svetlana Lvovich, DO of Philadelphia. She had two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family is grateful to Jewish Federation of Orange County, Aging with Dignity for holocaust survivors program for supporting Zinaida and Igor over the past several years.
The funeral service will be held on August 4th at 10:00 am at Harbor Lawn-Mt Olive Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
