People visit and enjoy, but no bulldozers have organized this place. I sit in the sand to remove shoes and roll up slacks and, this time, watch a great blue heron standing in the high tide, its head lit by the sun resembling nothing less than the blue green of the top of the Vancouver Hotel. Further out a cormorant balances on a rock, which isn’t easy as the waves keep bashing in. – Bar Parker, Vancouver Sun Aug. 1, 1992.
