He is survived by his partner in life, Sherri, stepdaughter Erin (Eric), step grandchildren Lucas & Kenzie, brother Keith (Brenda) and family, sister Sharon (Louie) and family, as well as countless friends, many he considered family.
Brian worked hard all of his life to be able to enjoy and live to the fullest, his retirement years and he did that after serving 27 years on the Calgary Fire Department.
He really enjoyed fishing and was happy to have taken his brother Keith on one big fishing trip. He was an avid golfer and curler and spent a lot of time on various courses and sheets of ice with his many good friends. He eventually gave up curling in order to spend more time in Bucerias, Mexico. It was his second home and he enjoyed every minute he was there, enjoying the sun and the many friends he and Sherri made over the years.
He was always happiest wandering around and just winging it to see where they would end up. He had a few favorite spots, Miguel Angels, YoYo's, Barchelata's, OYE Henry's and of course IXTA where he celebrated many birthdays. He was always treated like a king by Pierre, Ezequiel and all the IXTA staff.
He loved to dance and wherever there was music, you would find him up dancing with the ladies.
He had many friends in Bucerias, and also considered many as family. He treasured the times he spent with this special friend, Abel Montano who he referred to as his "brother".
There are just so many people who touched his heart and made his life special and he was grateful to spend time with them all.
Brian died, like he lived, on his own terms. He had so wanted to return to Bucerias one more time to, as he said, "Dance like nobody is watching". I know he's there right now doing just that.
At Brian's request there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered at a later date.
Sherri would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses who so compassionately cared for Brian over the last three months. You are all heroes. Also a huge thank you to Al and Colleen Friendship, Tom Revie and Chuck Ruest, without your help I would have been lost. And finally, thank you to each and every one for your condolences and kindness. It means more than you know.
Rest in Peace my love
And Keep on Dancing
Until We Met Again
Cheers, Salud
