We "met" Mamie through the "Can You Help?" column in "Country Woman" magazine. Letters and shared interests led to a fast long-distance friendship. We dropped in on her whenever we visited family in the Comox Valley. Those visits were a real delight; they often included her dignified cat, Louie, and her long-time friend, John. Despite her health problems, each visit was a joy and good reason for a pot (or two or more) of tea in her kitchen. We extend our deepest condolences to those who also knew "our Mamie"; we've all sustained a real loss with her passing.

Mamie loved to cook and bake ! Her muffins were famous !
During the years that Mamie could not attend meetings any more , she still knew when it was " Harvest Auction "time . Somehow she made sure her muffins were present .  Members were eager to go home with a package of her treats .....Thank you Mamie , for the many years  you have been a caring member of the Courtenay Soroptimists ! Anneke Meyers

Mamie was a long-time member and huge supporter of the Soroptimist club in Courtenay.  Mamie will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  She had a warm heart that matched her gentle smile.

Sad to hear of this special Soroptimist's passing.....she was an inspiration and a very sweet woman.  She never missed a chance to offer her beautiful smile and words of encouragement to me whenever I saw her.
