Cecil Woodfood Kerr passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, just weeks short of his 97th birthday. After a long life well lived, the years had taken their toll. We take comfort in knowing he is now at rest.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his sons Rob (Jane), Trevor (Toni), and Graham, along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by their son David in 1971 and wife Lynn in 2010.
Born in Coronation, Alberta in 1929, his parents raised a family of nine children during the Depression, constantly working to make ends meet, yet always found time for family gatherings and good laughs. Dad carried that same quiet warmth and enjoyment of people throughout his life.
After moving to Calgary, he completed high school at Crescent Heights and later met Lynn at a mixed golf tournament at Bowness Golf Course. They married in 1955 and built their life together raising their family in Calgary, filled with camping trips, outdoor adventures, and memorable family meals.
Dad worked as a lineman for Calgary Power and later with the City of Calgary Electric System (now ENMAX), retiring in 1987. He and Lynn then moved to Vancouver Island, where retirement meant golf, curling, friendships, Dad’s ever-present park-like yard, and time well spent.
After Lynn’s passing, Dad moved to Courtenay in 2010 and found a warm and welcoming seniors’ community. He embraced the social life there fully, especially the Friday night happy hours, and made many dear friends. He was, at heart, a social person who enjoyed people, conversation, and a good laugh.
Dad loved sports and excelled at golf, recording a few hole-in-ones over the years. But his greatest pride was always his family. He leaves behind many good memories, and a long example of resilience, kindness, and quiet strength.
At Cec’s request there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering to will be held later.
