Colin Greenwood AKA The Pie Man

Colin passed away on the 8th of July at the Comox Valley Hospital, after a brief battle with Cancer. He was born in Rochdale, Lancashire England on the 18th of February 1942.

He moved to the Comox Valley in January 92 with his family, and a plan to semi-retire. That didn’t last long as he started up Greenwoods Pies, giving him the name Pie Guy.

Colin loved all sports, watching and participating. He started the Comox Valley Cricket team, which ran for 15 years. He was a member of the Sunnydale Golf Club, where he made many friends.

Colin is survived by his wife Barb of 53 years, his sons Andrew and Darren, his grandchildren Liam, Erin and Abigail, and a large extended family. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Comox Hospital for keeping him comfortable during his last days.

A Celebration of life is being held on Sunday August 18 2019 at Sunnydale Golf Club from 3 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Comox Valley Hospice Society. Please join us in remembering Colin by visiting our memorial at

I am so sorry to hear of Colin's passing. He was a friendly and good-natured person, and I always enjoyed visiting with him whenever he came into my clinic. He was ever positive, and I really admired him for that.

Sorry to say I didn't know Colin was unwell. Only good memories of Colin. Great guy who I was proud to know. Always cheerful and a wonderful sense of humour either on the football pitch , the golf course, the cricket pitch or throughout life. Condolences to Barb and the family
