Ed received his Master’s of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and his Master’s of Divinity from the University of Emmanuel & St. Chad. He was ordained in 1990 and became Rector of the Parish of Claresholm, Nanton and Carmangay in Alberta. In 1996 he moved to become Rector of the Parish of St. Andrews, in Camrose, Alberta where he married the late Rev. Gloria. Upon retirement they moved to Chaffey’s Lock, Ontario where he spent 20 years as Honorary Assistant at St. James Anglican Church, Perth and provided Sunday Supply to the Dioceses of Ottawa and Ontario. In 2023 Ed moved to Vancouver Island to be close to his family.
Ed had a strong interest in labyrinths and focused mainly in their use as a “tool” for prayer and meditation, healing, insight and personal transformation. He developed labyrinth construction skills under the training of Robert Ferre, one of the foremost labyrinth builders in North America. Ed participated, with the Rev Dr. Lauren Artress of Grace Cathedral, San Francisco in the labyrinth workshop held at the Chartres Cathedral in France. Ed later constructed a 46 foot brick and stone replica of the Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth on their property in Chaffey’s Lock, which was open to the community and visitors.
Having answered his calling, he lived it with humility and deep devotion. With his whole heart he now hears the words he lived for: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Mt. 25:21
